Wooden Name Sign! - SIMPLE!

To make this wooden name block (or any text for that matter), choose a piece of wood. I used this leftover 2x6 from my fiance's construction project at work!
First, sand the wood down to a smooth touch! Then paint the entire wood block a single color, preferably two coats; this will be the color of the text! While the paint is drawing, cut out the letters you would like out of sticky vinyl. This is where my CRICUT machine comes in handy! (I love that thing!). Once the paint on the block is completely dry, stick the letters in place! Paint the ENTIRE block a different color; this will be the background color. Once the paint completely dries, peel of the letters, to reveal your awesome looking sign!
TIP: I like to spray an acrylic sealer on it to give it a little gloss; especially on girly signs!

Spinach Lunch wraps!

A friend at work had the best creation for a yummy healthy lunch, I’m so glad she shared this with me! All it consists of is spinach tortillas, deli meat, cheese, cream cheese (I use vegetable garden or chives) and spinach leaves.  Basically pile on as much of the toppings as you want onto the tortilla and roll!  It is insanely delicious and very healthy!  Another plus is one wrap fills me right up!

Homemade Coasters!..CHEAP

I can never find coasters that are fun, and I actually like them. I found a super simple and VERY CHEAP idea, and went for it!!!
These plain white tiles can be found at your local home depot for just $.16! Apply some mod podge and some decorative scrapbook paper and you have your own personal style for your coasters! I applied one coat of mod podge under the scrapbook paper, and two on top. Apply some felt and glue to the bottom, so to not ruin any surfaces. When completely dry on all sides apply an even coat of an acrylic sealer, this make them waterproof!   Happy crafting=)
Here's my first set!  I Love Color and patterns!!!

DIY Event Tickets!

Buying tickets on ticketmaster or Stubhub is the new norm it seems!  For me, my fiance LOVES sports!  It's very easy to give him tickets for any sort of gift! However, I really hate just throwing in the printed paper from these websites! So I decided to make my own tickets using Microsoft Publisher. I mocked sports tickets to the best of my knowledge and at first he didn't even realized I had made them!  Not only a good gift, but we got to keep them and put in our picture frame of the game!

How to Organize all your Online Recipes!

As many of us search the web for recipes in order to prepare delicious meals, we end up with so many online recipes!  What do we do with them all??  I have discovered an awesome idea that works for me, saves paper, and is clutter free! I use Microsoft OneNote. This allows you to make a digital notebook. On the left you have the name of the notebook, you may have more than one notebook. I currently only have one recipe notebook. On the top panel you have your categories (i.e. main dish, soups, salad, breakfast, etc). Then on the right you have each individual recipe under each section.
Two things that have won me over with this method is:
1- When you copy and paste a recipe, it automatically adds the web address where you got the recipe from, so if you need a quick reference you just click on the link and it sends you to the page.
2- If you so happen to make a dish, and it doesn't quite taste as good as you thought it would, you can simply delete that recipe!  No more clutter!

Birthday Inserts!

Sometimes babies are the hardest to shop for. It is definitely hard to keep up with the new toys and gadgets. When it comes to clothing and shoe sizes, this can be a very tough guessing game as well.
So my niece is having her first birthday! I am beginning to realize that I love party planning and coming up with all these DIY party projects. The first one we came up with was an insert to go with the invitation! On one side it has directions to the party, and one the other side it has a couple of details about the babies likes and sizes.
I personally love Microsoft Publisher to make any sort of flyers or annoucements, being as how Photoshop is currently out of my price range. I can't wait to post more pictures of her minnie mouse party! But here is a look at the final product for her birthday insert!

Update: April 17, 2012
Here is a sample of my Monster Party Inserts! Made for a little boy turning one!

DIY: Name Blocks!!

I have been recently getting into the crafting world!! I Love making blocks, usually personalized with names for kids and family!   They turn out really cute and make a great accent to any room! They are also very easy to make. I make mine from 2x4's and sand them to a smooth touch. I then paint the wood with a basic acrylic paint.  Using Scrapbook paper and a CRICUT machine, I cut out the background layer and the letter. Once the painted wood has dried, I Then  use mod podge to glue the scrapbook paper to the wood. Last step: After the mod podge is dry I use a Mod Podge Acrylic Sealer and spray on an even coat!
Note: If ever shipping or giving as a gift, DO NOT wrap in tissue paper, tends to stick, even days after they are made, I have found that wax paper works the best.

Ways to Save Money on this project:
For wood- If you know anyone who works in lumber yard, or does construction, ask them to save their extra wood, Sometimes you can even get them to cut into the size to need, i do 3" & 4" tall blocks.
For Paint- Often Home Depot, Lowes, and other home improvement stores sell their "mess up" paints for very cheap! Check the paint department. In today's case, my fiance found a box at Home Depot loaded with "tester" paints!  They were letting them go for $.10 each. He scored the whole box for $10. Best gift ever, I ended up with 180 new paints all sealed and with their own paintbrish! So just keep your eyes open! Happy Crafting!

Healthy Pizza Rolls!

So becoming a new house wife, I figured it is about that time I learn how to cook. I have came across so many online recipes that I would love to try. Here is my first online recipe that I tried! (I decided to start VERY simple:)). These rolls are great for a small dinner, snack, parties etc! ...And I even plugged it into my calorie tracker and turns out these are only 150 calories each!.

To make these rolls, here are the 3 simple ingredients:
Cresent rolls
Pepperoni slices
String Cheese

Simply unroll the dough, Place three pepperonis on the large side and half a string cheese, then just roll it. I wrapped one end over since it was extra dough! Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Eat and enjoy! (they also go great with marinara or ranch dip)
